Getting Ready

We have a work camp booked at Barnard April 26 through 28.  We are going to be doing a variety jobs on site including cleaning of areas camp is going to use and some much needed work on the climbing wall.  There will also be a meeting held the Saturday night for more planning.  All rovers venturers, and advisors are welcome to the meeting as well as the work camp, but we need to know you are coming and we do expect you to work so shoot us an email if you plan on attending and if you would like to be a part of staff.

Showing up just for one day or even a few hours is also fine, most work will be done during the day on Saturday.

Note you must provide your own food as well as your own shelter (tents) but we will make sure everything else is ready

Feeding Time

Hey Everyone!

We’ve had a couple notes from various people about getting the BBQ dinner on “both” nights – We are only serving a BBQ dinner on SUNDAY, July 1st. We do not offer a dinner on Saturday.

For those who registered early and opted into the meal plan, we will provide a dinner, but the BBQ tickets are only available on SUNDAY.

Thanks! We cannot /wait/ to see everyone next week! It’s going to be so awesome!

Sad news on the home front

Apologies to those few who registered for Wildplay, but we did not make the minimum numbers necessary to make it work .  As such Wild Play has been cancelled, or at least shelved until next year. All is not lost; there are still a plethora of fabulous activities on site, including a masquerade ball (costuming encouraged, I know I’ll have mine) and much, much more.
Refunds will be made available to those who have already paid for Wildplay along with our continuing apologies.

We again apologize for the inconvenience, and we hope you all are still a pumped for camp as we are.

Questions and concerns will be answered by contacting us at coyotereg(at)gmail(dot)com or at Coyote(at)Victoriascouts(dot)ca

Clarification

Hey Folks!

It’s only a few weeks away – are you excited yet?!

Just a quick note to make sure we’re all on the same page:
Third year scouts who are moving up to Venturer Scouts AND REGISTER FOR SEPTEMBER EARLY (and show up as Venturer Scouts in the AMS/MyScouts system) may attend Camp Coyote.

Third year Scouts who show up as Scouts in the MyScouts system WILL BE TURNED AWAY. We are checking everyone’s registration on-site.

They also need a signed Parent/Guardian Consent Form (found here http://www2.scouts.ca/dnn/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=JPvr6HV0Jxo%3d&tabid=232&mid=606) as this is a RED LEVEL event according the the BP&P.

You also need to bring a copy of your Scouts Canada registration form as per every camp, and the Outdoor Activity Application form as per every camp. If your group does not have these documents in hand when you register, we will be sending you home.
We cannot cut corners and we do apologize but we are reminding you now.

Rangers and Link – you must bring any and all appropriate paperwork for this 4 day, 3 night camp. We have Guiders on site with registration who will be checking your forms.

Thank you everyone for your cooperation and patience. We look forward to meeting you and sharing a great weekend with you!

If you have questions or comments, please feel free to email me at coyote (at) victoriascouts (dot) ca
Sincerely,
Amanda, Camp Chief.

(work) Party weekend!

Hello!

May 11-13th, 2012 is our long-awaited work party weekend! I can’t wait to see everyone come out.

There are a couple big projects for us to work on, so please bring your work gloves! Camp should have all the tools we need, so unless you have an extra fancy rake or shovel made of platinum, you can leave it at home.
We’ll be putting in a bridge (at least in part, we may only get the concrete footings in), and creating a trail to the new climbs. I’m hoping the new climbs will be set up before we go in, but we may have to clean the area before they go in.

Saturday night, we’ll have our last meeting. We’ll be finalizing a lot of topics – registration, staff shirts, program, etc.
If Camp can spring for dinner, we’ll let you know, but right now, please plan on making your own dinner Saturday night.

For the weekend, I will cover the paperwork, but please bring your own gear (tent, sleeping bag, stove etc) and food. And please please PLEASE RSVP so I know how much space we need and can plan for projects and tools accordingly.

Thanks!! See you in a couple weeks!

Meeting Re-cap

Another successful meeting! Thank you to everyone who came out.

We have some lovely new people who committed their names to ink, welcome to the team Assistant Co-Camp-Chiefs Brianna Nichols and Krisanna Mazur,
Registrar Michael Hryhoriw,
Program Coordinator Kevin Preston,
and Program element people: Rhonda Mitchell, Mike Tennisco, Jake (Big J) Underwood, Stephanie Fribance, Darian Gondor, Callum Middleton-Munn and Kate Adams!

We’re still looking for a few key people – we need a lifeguard with a waterfront ticket, First aid/security, Site Services (transportation, parking, sanitation) and a quartermaster.
If you’d like to volunteer, drop a line to coyote@victoriascouts.ca

If you missed it, we talked about the budget. (It’s a bit of a mess right now, but we’re working on it. Having never done a budget of this size before, and the fact we keep remembering expenses and incomes, it’s a little confusing.)
But we’re working on it. The treasurer and I will be speaking with one of our support Advisors about the budget in the coming weeks. And once we get it hammered out, we will have it available upon request.

We spent a lot of time getting our program laid out. And WOW, you guys. It’s gonna be so awesome. Rock climbing on REAL, ACTUAL ROCKS. Outside!
Plus we’re offering geocaching, rafting, rockets, a dance, potentially a concert, games and a Kickin’ Coyote (bucking bronco), archery, and more. So much more.
It’s in a draft stage still, but we will have it out once it’s finalised for your viewing pleasure and enthusiasm building!

I apologise to the Venturer Scouts who came out to the first meeting, I dropped the ball and forgot to email the meeting date out, I only put it online.
I’m looking forward to the next few months. Lots of work, but the payoff will be so wonderful when I see all you smiling campers and staff.

Keep on Rovering!
